DBZ OC: Mako

not to be confused with Mankanshoku Mako, although the world credits her for establishing the biggest convenience food chain store in the world (Mankanshoku Foods) and known to have the best croquettes in the industry for generations //brickd

Anyway! You know how Videl is to Gohan right? Mako is the Videl to Future Trunks' Gohan, put simply. Also I've wanted an Earthling OC for a while now. 

First off, her backstory. If you remember in 'Free the Future', there was an old man that was about to be shot in the face by #17 (in the manga he was already shot by #17 before Trunks arrived) before Trunks intervened, basically saving his life. Soon after, the old man began telling his family (who were relieved that he was safe and sound and recovering in hospital) about the mysterious youth who single-handedly defeated the androids and restoring order to the world again. Some thought he was delirious as a result from the trauma he endured from losing his grandson and being so close to death, but his granddaughter believed him, and wanted to personally thank the guy who saved her grandfather -- after all, he saved gramps from the androids, didn't he? He deserved that much at least; and Mako was eager to find out who exactly saved the world from the Androids.

Her search brought her to West City, with only her grandfather's description of Trunks jotted down neatly in a notebook. Deciding she might as well settle down in the city and continue her studies where she left off, Mako joined the local dojo, and hoping that if she didn't become a world martial arts champion, she might as well put her IT skills to use so she can join the Capsule Corporation workforce. Who knew Trunks was also studying in the same course and the same college as her? When she set eyes on this son of the current CEO and Head Inventor of Capsule Corporation, Mako knew, somehow, that this was the boy that saved her grandfather -- and he was the same age as her? 

Trunks, upon finally noticing her, noted that her power is quite high compared to other people, and that if she's given proper training, she could stand in the same leagues as Krillin, Yamcha and Tien -- maybe even stronger than them. Knowing that the world could use more fighters to protect humanity should a new threat arrive, Trunks decided to befriend her and train her -- and actually sits down with Master Roshi to personally plan out her training regime. Both of them would train with Master Roshi and Karin first, before Trunks would start training Mako himself. This is basically how they got to know each other and subsequently become more than just friends, and Mako couldn't thank Trunks enough for seeing her as an equal, and not just some girl who's forever indebted in gratitude to him.

Personality-wise, Mako's a pretty straightforward and blunt girl; sometimes deemed insensitive, sharp-tongued and tactless. Although few can deny that she's an honest person with a good heart and a good will, few ever appreciate it due to the fact that she -- stubbornly -- will not sugarcoat anything at all. And that can come off as hurtful to a lot of people. She's since learned to keep it down a notch though, realizing that if she's going to be able to interact well with people and such, she needs to be more sensitive to other people's feelings.  She's also tenacious and diligent, and she tends to be consistent in her training, her work and her studies. Mako also has a huge fondness for her grandfather, even more so considering she almost lost him to the androids. Yes, Mako can get a little mushy at times but she doesn't (always) let her emotions rule her decisions. Living in hardship trying to survive the androids' onslaught taught her a lot, and she's learned to also be resourceful, and knows a lot of survival skills. 

Mako's a pretty wicked baker, and her cookies and cakes are to die for. She often prefers wearing pants and t-shirts as opposed to dresses and blouses and heels, but if the occasion calls for it, she can pretty much dress herself accordingly -- not enough to kill, but enough to look presentable, at least. She loves the stars and the moon and the cosmos, and she thinks her freckles are galaxies on her skin, so she's proud of them.


Yes I'm aware it's basically an OC paired with Future Trunks but seeing there's over 9000 OCs paired with him already, there's no harm in adding another one. Also I quite like Mako -- she's been in my head for a while now and I really want to flesh her out a bit. 'v'
